Back from the grave?

Okay, see, this is why I told mom I shouldn't create a blog. I never, ever, ever post.
But there is news to be had and I am here to deliver it.

Firstly, I got accepted into Montserrat with a 32k scholarship. Woo!

Secondly, I've won a total of 3 awards this year for my artwork, and even placed first in one of the art shows for a self portrait I did in pencil. Mind = blown. I never thought I'd win awards for my artwork, but I guess I was sorely mistaken.

Thirdly, I got to meet one of my favourite artists Alex Pardee two weekends ago in NYC while he was in town for his Sketch 4 Sketch tour. That was a pretty inspiring visit for me, I'm amazed at how dedicated he and Dave Correia are to this tour. They sketched drawings for every person in line for 8. hours. I don't think I'd ever be able to do that.

I'll update more of my own art later, I've got to get ready to see Iron Man 2 with my braintwin today!

Something Fishy, Something Strange.

Hello Hello, one and all. I come with news and doodlings.

Firstly, I had a portfolio review at my first-choice college Montserrat on Saturday. It was part of an open house they were hosting, and I must say I am in LOVE with the school. I love the area and all the classes they offer.
As for the portfolio review, it went splendidly. My portfolio actually met their admissions requirements. That's so much better than what I thought would happen, I can't believe it. Now I've just got to work on cleaning it up for the final portfolio, so I might have a chance at getting a scholarship.

In other news, I've been drawing more lovecraft inspired pieces. Mainly the residents of Innsmouth, Cthulhu, and, the final page from "Rats in the Walls." Those stories are among my favourites, though I can pretty much say I love all of Lovecraft's work. He is absolutely brilliant.

This is the drawing based off of "Rats in the Walls." I absolutely love it. It actually started out as a crap-doodle. I wasn't going to finish it. I'm glad I did, though.

This is my version of the "innsmouth look." I'm very happy with it at the moment , though I'll probably continue to tweak it over the next week or so.

That's all for now, lovelys.

I'm exactly what I seem.

Hello fiends one and all.
Just a quick update since my last was at the beginning of October. OCTOBER!

I'm just going to post a drawing I finished today. I tole some gray paper from my art teacher and had some fun with crosshatching.

"When The Stars Are Right..."
This is very much inspired by H.P. Lovecraft's "The Call of Cthulhu." I just recently finished the book of stories I bought by him, and I've fallen in love, almost more so than with Edgar Allan Poe. Expect more Lovecraftian artwork in the future.

I've also got a portfolio review up at Montserrat on Saturday. Nerves, I have them. Wish me luck, the few of you who read this! I'm going to need it.

Now, I need to go finish taking my shower. I got out to read and update by my favourite werewolf Curtis Rx over on his blog "Villains and Vaudevillians" If you're a fan of Creature Feature and don't know about his blog already, I suggest heading over. It's full of ghoulishly delightful stories, poems, and weird news snippets.

Stay Spooky!

Oh correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks like fun, this looks like fun, could it be I got my wish?!

Happy first of October everyone!

Best month of the whole damned year. (For obvious reasons ;))

Events for this month:

October 3rd: Zombie Walk in Asbury Park, NJ

October 4th(I hope): Zombieland

October 5th: Trick R Treat

October 10th: Gris Grimly book signing (EEE, OH MY GOD. I'm finally gonna get to meet him! *flails*)

October 11th: Edgar Allan Poe’s Second funeral

October 11th-12th(?): Gettysburg with mom

October 31st: Halloween!

Plans are due to change at any moment. Hopefully change for the better. (since, you know, L.A. got canceled :C I'm trying to not let that get me down anymore, though.)

I’m gonna go back to obsessively listening to the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack now.

Complications.

So, things have taken a turn for the worse.

I am still going out to L.A. this Halloween, that hasn't changed. Just.. the events have changed. Creature Feature's Halloween show is going to be 21+ this year since they are doing it in conjunction with Gris Grimly's Cabaret Macabre at the Magic Castle in Hollywood. See, this is a problem for me because I'm only 17.

I'm not going to lie, I was downright depressed pretty much all day yesterday. I've been sick with a cold for a while as well, so that didn't help my mood at all.
It seems like every time I try to see Creature Feature, complications arise. The first two shows I was going to go to were on the canceled Otep tour. Now, I can't get into the venue they'll be playing at. I've been trying to see them for three years, and it's looking like I'm just not meant to see them. I'm hoping that's not the case. I really am.

*sigh*

But, yes. I'll be in LA. October 3oth to November 3rd. Some friends and I are planning on meeting up and possibly going to "shipwreck" which is at the Queen Mary. It should be fun.

Thoughts of my premature burial.

Hello fiends.

So, a lot has been going on in the land of Delirium.

1.) I'm definitely going to L.A. this October! October 30th-November 3rd to be exact. My mother and her friend Amy decided that me going by myself would not be the greatest idea and decided they'd come with me, hence one day being cut off due to my mom's double shift on Thursdays.
I'm really very excited for this. Not only will I be seeing Creature Feature for the first time on Halloween in a little bit over a month, this will be my first time on the West Coast since I was 8 months old. (I was born in Long Beach, California for those of you not in the know.) I'm currently working on some painting projects that I plan to bring with me and give to certain people. More on that soon.

2.) The Poe painting I posted earlier has gathered a lot of attention. Someone is willing to pay me 55 dollars plus shipping if I paint them another version of it. My SciFi teacher also is going to give me a project-weight grade and 20 dollars for a poster sized print of it to hang in his room. Finally, my 10th grade English teacher is going to include it in "Writer's Ink" a kind of zine the english department puts out annually. I'm actually kind of flabbergasted. I never knew it'd get such positive feedback from everyone.

Okay, so maybe it's not a lot, but it's some pretty awesome shit.
Expect some more art posted within the next week, I'm feeling inspired.

Deep into that darkness peering

Time for me to post another new painting!
(paints really are the best thing to happen to me, no?)

Mr. Edgar Allan Poe

Done with acrylic paint on canvas. I think it took around 4 hours to complete.
I'm very, very proud of this piece. It's my first "portrait" in paint.
It's also fitting, seeing as this year was the 200th' anniversary of his birth!
My mother, Darci and myself went down to Baltimore this August to go visit Mr. EAP's gravesite. It was great fun. I'd hoped I'd be able to go to the Poe Museum to meet Gris Grimly but it's sadly not to be.

IN OTHER NEWS.
I miiight be getting a tattoo apprenticeship in the next few weeks. Maybe. If I play my cards right and build a good portfolio, I actually might have a good chance. I've got my fingers crossed!

Until next time!
